Ronna D. Brown serves as a leadership coach and organizational consultant to foundations and other nonprofits. Her consulting practice focuses on:

supporting and developing leadership through individual and team coaching,

working with nonprofit boards around culture change and effective governance practices,

facilitating effective leadership transitions, and
-
guiding the development of strategic and organizational planning.
Prior to starting her own practice, Ronna served for 13 years as the President of Philanthropy New York, a nonprofit membership organization serving the New York foundation community. Philanthropy New York champions effective grant making by building a vibrant philanthropic ecosystem striving to advance meaningful social change with an intentional commitment to racial equity. Under Ronna’s leadership, Philanthropy New York’s membership grew, and its mandate expanded, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among its approximately 285 member organizations.
Prior to her service at Philanthropy New York, Ronna served for nine years as President of the Metro New York Better Business Bureau. Earlier in her career, she worked as an attorney in the New York State Attorney General’s office, Consumer Frauds and Protection as well as in the Legal Aid Society and a private law firm. Ronna has served on a variety of non-profit boards and currently serves on the Board of FJC, a nonprofit supporting donor advised funds.
Ronna received her JD from New York University and her BA from the University of California, Berkeley. With certificates in Leadership (Rockwood Leadership Institute), Facilitation for Racial Justice Work (Interaction Institute), the Interim Executive Director role (the Support Center), and Leadership Coaching (Georgetown University). Ronna was listed as a ‘top 50’ professional in philanthropy in New York City (2020).
